[openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website] PUT on gpx_file in API does not remove old tags (#1600)

Glad I'm not crazy :-)
Any time estimation on when I can expect a fix for this?
I'm guessing that the OSM site doesn't use this interface as I can see that when I edit a trace using the site it works well, I wonder if the code there can be used somehow...?
