(Also, I should be clear that I'm equating HSTS to adding a redirect rule for http → https, since the latter is the part that matters to match vendors' requirements for geolocation support.)
Alternate solution: modify the Leaflet plugin (which one is responsible?) to redirect to HTTPS before attempting to request geolocation. Not totally straightforward, but possible.
