If people are unable to override their Accept header, there's also the option to append an `.xml` suffix to the URL. 

Some examples: 
- https://api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/way/4972913.xml
- https://api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/way/4972913/history.xml
