@mmd-osm: Clicking a link is not *that* inconvenient, and it may be even more convenient than the hovering if you want to open it (and possibly keep it open) in another browser tab, or if you want to change the zoom level. The hovering has a lot of issues, such as that it only works with a mouse, and it doesn't seem to work for objects outside the current map viewpoint. These issues are not that much of a problem in the Nominatim search results, as the hovering is just an additional feature there and you can click each search result entry anyway to view its exact position.
