Yes, OpenStreetMap's Mapnik should be configured to use [high resolution tiles](https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/High-resolution_tiles) by default. I'm not sure why after ~~a thousand~~ ten years this is still not enabled. OSM looks like a second class citizen. The same is true for most OpenLayer implementations of OSM I see. You recognize them by the blurry image between otherwise sharp content.

Do OpenStreetMap developers generally not have high resolution screens? Because I'm sure they'd want to enable this when they see the clean and crisp looking maps from other renderers! :world_map: 

Although of course it could be to save on resources. If you transfer all graphics on the internet in half resolution, you can send four times as much graphics for the same bandwidth. :thinking:
