I think the best answer to that is to check the tests. If it's covered by the tests, it's likely to keep working, or at least provoke a discussion if it needs to be changed. But if there's some edge-case behaviour that's not covered by tests, it might change without anyone noticing, and so I wouldn't rely on it too much.
