Well I'm sorry if not wanting to be seen as a source of spam inconveniences you but the consequences of various anti-spam organisations deciding we weren't validating emails before using them could be very serious in terms of getting our mail server blacklisted.

There's no reason it should take that long unless your provider is doing greylisting or something.
