I am not sure what you mean when you say: "app expects the redirect in another window".

Web applications expect redirect in the browser. Native applications would normally have to open a listening port and expect redirect to that port on localhost. I believe JOSM works this way. JOSM authorization works across email confirmation with both PRs.

Is there something I am missing? Can you give an example where the app would expect redirect to another window?
