No, this is what I'm proposing:

We can easily to change that with [filters](https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/issues/5328#issuecomment-2481193144). There is no need to rush anything, we can test them for as long as we need. They don't have to be enabled by default if people really don't want to and we can even mark it as a beta feature if people want.

Compare it to other map applications that have dark theme and you will see that it's too bright. Here is GNOME Maps for example:
