Exactly what's happening here:
I messed something up back then and couldn't be bothered to edit the screenshot afterwards, since it was just about showing the new options. Here is what the preview actually looks like with filter `invert(1) hue-rotate(180deg)`:

There are only a few layers and it's easy to make filters. And no, we don't need separate filters for each zoom level, we don't even need a different filter for each layer, because some filters will work well for more than one layer.
