Testing all possible combinations is unreasonable but for all osm-featured hillshading layers a version of the feFunc-based dimming with a slight positive offset, an amplitude of 0.6-0.9 and a gamma value of 1.5-3 * seems to yield the best results.
\* the values in the demo are exponentiated for more equal control in both directions.
The most often proposed version of inversion doesn't work well with the ÖPNVKarte too as previously mentioned.
