[openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website] Ensure triggering of language search update (PR #6589)

I'm very reluctant to make random changes without any sort of theory or explanation about why they're useful.

What data do we even have to say this works better? Have we run a large number of test of both methods and counted the number of failures for each?
