It occurs to me that @gravitystorm’s decision in #3041 predates the changes in #536 that allow the navigation bar to update more dynamically. This gives us more flexibility to add items to the list without making the entire site navigation less accessible. It isn’t a free-for-all; we still want to minimize the list so the user can choose a destination efficiently. I’d just reiterate that the goal of adding a Donate link to the navigation bar would be to decouple it from the homepage and from the user’s choice to switch to another featured layer in a previous session, not to force the link to be visible at all times. We aren’t at a Wikipedia level of desperation here.
