We added two client-side-rendered featured layers in #4042 and #6137, using maplibre-gl-leaflet to render them. #6234 tracks replacing this compatibility shim with direct usage of MapLibre GL JS.

> One limitation with Maplibre/Mapbox GL is the lack of support for proper rendering of Indic scripts which require complex text shaping.

Tracked in maplibre/maplibre-gl-js#50.
