If this becomes a built-in feature, I assume it would obviate the Chrome and Firefox plugins, right @ZeLonewolf? So probably no need to keep them in sync.

Another way of looking at it is that editors like iD have long had this same functionality. Obviously a different set of consequences for any downtime, but some mappers would probably appreciate seeing the same kind of preview that they do while editing, as with the color swatches for `colour=*` and such.
