I'd say, Mastodon links look almost the same as before:

Old:

```
[Edit your OSM profile], make it include <a href='https://<mastodon-host>/@<your-username/' rel='me'>My fediverse acount</a>
```

New:

```
<a class="icon-link mw-100 text-body-secondary mb-3" rel="nofollow me" href="https://en.osm.town/@username">
```

So there's still the "ref="...me" in place. The question would be why don't you change your parser implementation? I don't see a need to change the user api. You didn't have to rely on this API earlier on, right?
