I've long had it in mind to look into moving to redis (well valkey) instead of memcache which I believe would give us the option to use disk as backing so the cache can survive restarts and we should probably increase the memory even though I don't understand why we see the issues we do with sessions.

I'm reluctant to put stuff in the database - the cache was never there but sessions were and we moved them out for a reason.
