As @tomhughes explained, we don't aim to provide end-user services like traffic data or public transit navigation, or real-time navigation. We prioritise features that are helpful for our community of volunteer map contributors.
OpenStreetMap publishes all of its map data under an open license, so that other organisations, applications and websites can use this data to build features that are helpful for the general public. There are hundreds of other sites and apps that do this.
