We could do that. Deciding what is appropriate to put in the HTML returned by the API would need to be discussed since I suspect different API client apps would want different things.
For example, with a user reference, would you just want a `<a href=...>Username</a>`, even if the website is rendering it with an avatar beside the username `<a href=...><img /> Username</a>`? Would client apps want to have the additional information for a hovercard? etc etc.
Anyway, that's something for the distant future I suspect, let's get the foundations in first.
