I believe this is conflating different aspects of what the OSMF is doing here to come to a completely incorrect conclusion:

- publicly publishing PI that can be used to generate detailed profiles of contributors. This has been illegal since at least 2018 in the EU and the UK (and depending on the jurisdiction can be a criminal offence independent of the provisions in the GDPR).
- generating detailed profiles on OSM contributors and making them available to the general public, including publishing them on the users profile page, again see above.
- using that same data internally to the project for vandalism protection, communication with other contributors etc. This is covered by legitimate interest as outlined in the documents from 2018.
- statement in the OSMF privacy policy that the profile page is public and that the user controls its contents.

The position in point three does not provide a justification for the first two actions, nor do the board approved policies make any such representation (because it would have been and is totally untenable).

Additionally the 2nd point is contrary to the representation in the privacy policy that the user controls the content of the profile page, What is true that providing an opt-in option for the calendar and other content would allow the user to choose between making the data available to the general public (no legitimate interest of the OSMF) and just internally to the project (covered by legitimate interest of the OSMF), but that isn't what you are saying here.
