Are you still seeing that? This issue is unlikely to be related to WebGL, as it's a completely separate piece of the code.

The query feature uses Overpass behind the scenes, and this service has been under intense pressure from bots in the last year. What might have happened is that Overpass couldn't complete the query, which among other things meant that the CORS headers were not returned.
