<p><a href="https://github.com/tomhughes" class="user-mention">@tomhughes</a> Yes, Wikidata does use language codes with regions, if you pass it en-GB it'll try to display labels in British English, but most items don't have labels in British English, so better to just send the language without the region and get the labels in non-region specific English.</p>

<p>I don't think switching from full locale to just language code will break anything.</p>
