IRC is an _excellent_ way of doing it.
OSM mailing lists encourage grandstanding and entrenched positions. IRC is
much more like a conversation. You can throw comments out there and
quickly retract them when someone points something out. We have made much
more progress in two days on IRC than we have in a month on this list.
The channels are open to all. I realise timezones are an issue, but
there's not much we can do about that short of attaching one end of a
Tirfor to Europe and the other end to Australia, and even then I'm not
convinced either of us will fit through the Suez Canal.
