No. I want to implement a simple memory management unit (MMU) in
software so that gosmore will be able to handle the 6GB+ uncompressed
maps that are likely next year. And my target device is a WinCe device
with 64MB RAM and SD-card based filesystem.

No. Users are not expecting / cannot expect to be routed from one city
to another without some delay.
