[Routing] Routing on Garmin etrex using OSM

Hi,

I'm new to this list and interested in routing via OSM (may be that's
the reason why I subscribed to this list ?!?).

1. Is there webpage where this mailinglists archives are searchable? So
I can search there before asking stupid-newby-question that were already
answered thousands of times.

2. May be this is such a question: Is there a reason why OSM-data can
not be used by the routing-engine of my Garmin Vista HCx? Is the
Garmin-routable-format to different to convert the osm-data to such a
format? Or is the Garmin-routable-format not known? Or have I just not
found the available tools, yet? Or is it possible, but the tools are not
developed yet?
Well, I just want to use my Garmin to find my allday-way back home ;-)
