I think there is also a very strong motive to map things "correctly"
which will help. Of course you are right about vandalism but we will
have to find ways to deal with that anyway; even now it is easy for
someone to just place a barrier=gate on the road in front of their house.

I don't share your enthusiasm; we might get a few people driving around
with clumsy devices or some hacked software on their PDAs which works
half of the time, but this is really something where I believe the big
players will one day just build it into their Tomtom and Medion devices
and that's that.
But you're welcome to prove me wrong. After all there were enough people
who said that OSM won't work for the same reasons ;-)
