Dear All,

I think it is great that dedicated academic tracks are becoming a tradition
at State of the Map events. Thanks Marco and Yair for taking the lead on
organizing it in 2019. Below is my application for one of the Academic
Track Leading Team member seats.

Cheers,
Levente

**Academic experience, in particular on OpenStreetMap**
Among others, my research interests mainly revolve around data quality of
user generated geodata and user contribution patterns in online
communities. I am also interested in using novel data sources.

I have directly addressed OpenStreetMap related questions in the following
publications:
[1] Juhász, L. and Hochmair, H.H. (2018). OSM Data Import as an Outreach
Tool to Trigger Community Growth? A Case Study in Miami. ISPRS
International Journal of Geo-Information. 7 (3): 113.

Based Services 2018. LBS 2018. Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and
Cartography (pp. 293-313) Berlin: Springer.

Geoinformation and Cartography (pp. 141-156). Berlin: Springer.

I have also used OpenStreetMap data in the following publications in many
different ways:

**Editorial experience**
I do not have any editorial experience per se but I serve as a reviewer for
a number of academic journals and conferences in the GIScience domain
including: PLOS ONE, Transactions in GIS, The Professional Geographer,
ISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, Urban Science,
International Journal of Spatial Data Infrastructures Research, Remote
Sensing, and Open Geospatial Data, Software and Standards. Many of the
manuscripts I review use OSM data or aim to address a wide array OSM
related research questions (e.g. completeness, volunteerism, user
motivation, behavior, etc). Occasionally, I also get invites to review
technical papers introducing OSM related software tools.
I was a member of the organizing committee of the Link-VGI pre-conference
workshop at AGILE 2016 in Helsinki [11] and we have submitted another VGI
related AGILE workshop proposal to be held in Limassol, Cyprus in 2019. I
am a member of the Technical committee of the GEOProcessing conference
series.

**Participation in State of the Map 2019**
I would like to participate - if time allows. No definite plans have been
made for Summer/Fall yet.

**+1: Recent OSM related activities**
* OSM Profile: jlevente [12] (HDYC [13])
* Technical lead on 2 data imports in Miami-Dade County, FL: 2016 [14],
2018 [15]
* Two-time State of the Map US attendee. Also presented a talk titled
"Building the community in South Florida" in 2017 in Boulder, CO.
* Co-organizer of Maptime Miami [16] [our chapter is currently inactive
with plans for bringing it back alive]
* Latest fun project: Combining citizen science and OSM aka piggybacking a
Bioblitz [17]
