Hi all,
Doing my homework for our discussion about future of OpenStreetMap.org
front page, I've conducted a small user experience survey in Russian
community forum. It contains opinions of current project users, both
newbies and experienced mappers. Below are its results:
What should be added:
* ruler
* scale bar
* Facebook's "Like" and Twitter's "Tweet" button (perhaps, some more
local through AddThis.com service)
* "Report an error" link to OpenStreetBugs
* 3d buildings
* mobile version at m.osm.org
What should be changed:
* search (to become more adequate)
* main map style
* OpenLayers controls
In an effort to visualise these ideas I've created several mockup
pictures. They are shown on wiki page
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OpenStreetMap.org
Though I agree that the main problem now is not the main page but
community in general, we all are sure that front page should be
changed as well. Hope this work helps.
I'm not sure I'll be on time for our meeting today but I'll do my best
to attend a discussion.
See you.
Best regards,
Eugene.
