You don't need a bot, you can access the data via the XAPI method, and
then load it into JOSM, I added a fixme=* to nodes/areas rather than
change them. Also in Canada (which is also part of North America) they
have Canadian Football which uses a 110 yard field instead of 100 yard
field and they also refer to it as football.

I checked over aussie data and it was a mix of at least 3 or 4
different codes of football, while it's reasonably simple to figure
out aussie rules and soccer fields based on shape + goal posts, I
couldn't figure out a good way to tell the difference between rugby
league and rugby union fields...
