AFAIK everything that is written down is copyright. You don't have to
put a copyright notice on it for it to be copyright. The principal of
OSM is DON'T COPY OTHER MAPS (unless you have written permission and and
it's compatible .........).
If you use small pieces of information from such a map you MAY be OK,
but OSM is not an exercise in taking the smartest short cut, how do you
know their map is accurate? Why not walk / cycle / drive around and
actually find out for yourself? You will gain so much more info that way
and be much more likely to gather the real picture.
