That is a good point. 

I thought that a majority of floors mapped will look like refs: B3, W7, etc. 

Ref is short for Reference, and my brain went “this is how the floor is referenced in the floor maps and brochures”,

But you are right - most of the examples are are names of the floors.  

is ref still viable?
