Where wiki recommends converting all waterway=wadi to waterway=river or
stream with intermittent=yes?

On http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:waterway%3Dwadi there is
"For intermittent waterways use waterway=river/waterway=stream +
intermittent=yes. For valleys natural=valley"
