? May not be just wooden .. fibreglass, metal .. ?
A google suggests that it is a surname, no trade suggestions. It may 
have been a trade in the past.

Might be under 1/16 after the hammer application. Or probably after 
packing out the frame to the fittings (like windows, doors).
