Or mud.  https://www.facebook.com/HM-Coastguard-Cardigan-205822279575268/
They cover the parts of Cardigan Bay near Cardigan, the Teifi Estuary, and
the
shifting mud shoals of the Teifi Estuary. Those shoals are tricky and
account
for a lot of their rescues.

If you look very closely in the region of this county boundary
https://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=52.11007&mlon=-4.69134#map=17/52.11007/-4.69134
<https://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=52.11007&mlon=-4.69134#map=17/52.11007/-4.69134&layers=N>
You can see the different shading between Poppit Sands (used to be yellow
in older carto, switch to the Cycle Map layer to see sand that looks like
sand)
to the west, and the mud shoal of Cardigan Bar to the east (not rendered on
the Cycle Map). That's still the Teifi Estuary (not open sea) and there is
a lot
of mud to get stuck in. Further upstream the mud shifts around a lot.

The coastguard base is here:
