Just to clarify, I don't strongly oppose highway=cart_path, since "cart 
path" apparently is a real term for the kind of path in question. All I 
meant was that it might not be intuitive to as many people as 
golf_cart_path at first glance, but that's... par for the course as far 
as OSM tags are concerned. Presets and good documentation can overcome 
rough edges in raw tag names to some extent. At least it wouldn't be as 
misleading as highway=car_path.

I appreciate the attention being paid to British English, but it would 
be unfortunate for "car path" to be used in one tag while we already 
have an established golf_cart=* key. Or would golf_cart=* also be renamed?

I think we should try to avoid neologisms and stick to terms of art 
where they exist in English, imperfect as the language may be.
