IMHO bridge:name is an accident which has its origin in the fact that we didn’t have a tag for bridges for 15 years, due to the confusion about the meaning of bridge=yes on roads. After this was fixed by introducing man_made=bridge there are now fewer reasons to add names to different things than those that bear the name.

I am not saying that there cannot be a place for spring name tags, just that bridges are not a good example ;-)
