[Tagging] amenity=life_ring vs emergency=life_ring

Is it OK to consider amenity=life_ring as deprecated?

Seem to have the same meaning, documented to have the same meaning,
emergency=life_ring has significantly higher usage...

I marked wiki page at 
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Tag:amenity%3Dlife_ring&diff=2079731&oldid=2079730
as deprecated, though encouragement to use emergency as key was
present already.

Feel free to revert this edit if you think that marking this tag
as deprecated is a bad idea.
