[Tagging] TRAVEL_DIR (and other fields) in shapefile?

you have more patience than I do delving through arcgis documentation
you might find out.  Or play with one of the editors that comes up
when you search for "arcgis travel_dir" and see if you can figure it
oiut.

My guess, given the values you've seen: forwards, backwards and
sideways. :)
