Yeah, better improving editors than forcing people to tag something they
may not be able to tag for one reason or another.
And for sure, rendering the default OSM style in a way that new/casual
mapper feel that the tag actually makes a difference. Most people don't
know how OSM can be used in other ways than to simply display the default
map.
Even though tagging shouldn't be made for the renderer, it should always be
as easy as possible for people to see the point of mapping and for data
consumers to use the data in a meaningful way. For whom are we mapping
otherwise?
