[Tagging] Mapping fords on large waterways

Hi,

I have question regarding how to map fords when the road is crossing a waterway large enough to be mapped with riverbanks. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:ford%3Dyes explains to put the ford=yes tag on the road section between the two riverbanks, but what about the intersection between the road and the waterway: a common node for sure, but with or without the ford=yes tag? Adding it seems duplicating the tag on the road section, but I am not sure the navigation tools will be able to consider this intersection as a ford if it has no attribute about it.
