[Tagging] denomination=catholic meaning

Currently denomination=catholic is used for

- (1) dominating flavour of Catholicism (typically more specific tagging
would be denomination=roman_catholic)
- (2) some unspecific catholic church, requires more specific tagging
- (3) in theory it could be used for ecumenical places - that are still limited
to Catholics and not designated other Christians

Is there any place matching description in (3)?
At least in cases that I have seen there was no such limitation.

Is it worth asking mappers to tag things more specifically than denomination=catholic?

Or is it safe to just treat denomination=catholic as synonym of
 denomination=roman_catholic?
