*you* mean : you don't like it, even though it's a de facto situation?

some abbreviations are so common that everyone uses the abbreviated
version instead of long form, including in osm. some examples :

395k https://taginfo.openstreetmap.fr/keys/ref:FR:FANTOIR

37k https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/tags/operator=DB%20Netz
DB for Deutschen Bahn

30k https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/ref:FR:STIF
STIF for Société Transport Ile de France of something like that

what page suggests that key names or operator values should be
without abbreviation? I only read that for name=*
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key%3Aoperator list NGCP
as exemple, it look like to be the shortname of National Grid
Corporation of the Philippines
