[Tagging] Planning route in the shade during hikes either in urban areas or forests

summer_midday_shade=* is as much sensible to be mapped in OSM as
lit=*, est_width=*, tidal=*, covered=*, internet_access=*, incline=*,
direction=* (for tourism=viewpoint) or charge=*. We just have to live
with the fact that certain mapped properties of common interest are
not made to be as "hard physical geospatial" as others. OSM is for the
people, by the people - we map what is useful for us. The said
recommendations in the thread included methods for estimating this
value without standing at a single point for 24 hours to observe the
shade.

I do not believe that there is a way to make the proposal workable if it includes a mapper making shade observations. The only approach that might be feasible is to map the physical qualities of the foliage and structures around a path, which could then be used algorithmically to come up with a shade calculation (as is done with the pubs in the shade concept).
