I would maybe not object if someone wants to call them like this, although calling them covered pitches seems more straightforward

not sure, many sports halls could have several pitches in different “rooms”, in my hometown there was a sports hall that was divided into three for schools but could be opened as a single space for bigger events (they then drew ranks out for the spectators, like a giant drawer)
