It’s also the purpose and context that makes the distinction of Inschrift, Beschriftung or Aufschrift and to some extent their use is overlapping.

Thanks you both for the explanation. In this case, `inscription` seems
to be a suitable tag for title/headings of maps and boards. Would
everyone be okay with this?
