Perhaps just, "it is useful," then, with examples? Reversing the logic was just a sort of compromise, but clearly the supporter of the original paragraph will not be happy with anything other than their specific paragraph, regardless of how accurately it describes opinions or the situation on the map, so I think it is safe to just ignore them at this point.
