In regard to Mike's comment, in Australia, we have a lot of so-called
Turkey Nest dams (
https://www.agric.wa.gov.au/water-management/excavated-tanks-farm-dams?page=0%2C0#smartpaging_toc_p0_s8_h3)
which are intended for stock use only.
Maybe change it to "store water for a variety of uses"?
