Going a bit "meta" about this:

While there are a great many "rabbit holes" (originally created data, wiki which document them, perhaps with or without "proper" OSM consensus, specific use cases which drift, often across vast geographic areas with different tendencies...) in our project's going-on-two-decades history, I am delighted when people like Minh take the time to do such awesome research digging through the historical meta-tagging that allows an analysis like he did.  Ditto to the quickly-stepping-up and prompt declaration of Kevin's "here's what happened, it has my fingerprints on it in some cases..." and Yves admonishments about piste and "might pop up on hiking...".  Such "reveal-ability" of OSM (OSM itself) is worth occasional reflection.

Truth, transparency, good intentions...these are all part of a good, big circle, its pieces acting symbiotically.  Thanks to all who enable this!
