you would find another route _because_ toll roads are not the norm in your area ;-)

Usually toll roads are advantageous in terms of length and or travel time so that people use them because paying the toll is still “cheaper” or comparable in the end (taking time and hazzle into account).

I have never seen satnavs counting the toll roads, typically they say something along “some parts of the route may require paying a toll”

this does not make sense, a free toll is not a toll.
