[Tagging] Is landuse=recreation_ground different than leisure=park and leisure=sports_centre?

The Venn diagram overlap between a recreation ground & a park is
substantial. No features are exclusive to each.

I'm UK based.

If its main purpose is to play sport with multiple sport pitches but few
other facilities, then I'd describe it as a recreation ground.
Examples: Large areas of grass within a school & municipally run sports
fields for those who aren't as fit or skilful as they think they are to
play rugby & football.

I'd also include village cricket clubs where the polygon boundary
includes all facilities. Not only the actual pitch (tagged as
leisure=pitch), but the clubhouse, cricket nets, car park etc.

A park would have fewer pitches, but more trees. water features,
seating, cafes, toilets etc.

The official name containing either 'recreation ground' & 'park'  also
has a bearing.

I perceive leisure centre to be mainly a building containing facilities
such as a swimming pool, squash courts, gym & a hall for the likes of
badminton & basketball etc. although they can also include outside pitches.

Off on a slight tangent:

1. There appears to be a fair amount of confusion of what constitutes a
sports pitch, which is an area for a specific sport often within white
lines.
To this end, within the UK I've been using this Overpass routine to
search for large areas tagged as leisure=pitch and converting them to
recreation ground where appropriate.

https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1jd1

area(id:3600058447,3600058437,3600058446); // England/Wales/Scotland

(wr[leisure=pitch][sport!~"polo|equestrian|model_aerodrome"][!"piste:type"]
(if:length()>430)(if:length()<2000)
(newer:"{{date:14Day}}")
(area)->.Data;
-wr.Data(user:DaveF);
);
out meta center;
out geom;

It checks for pitch polygons of a certain size, amended in the last two
weeks & which hasn't been amended by myself,

2. I've never understood why recreation ground is tag with the key
'landuse'.
  Given the close association of other leisures features such as pitch
park, playground, seating, dog park etc I firmly believe it should also
be tagged as leisure.

If it stays as a recreation ground it should be tagged with
sport=skiing. Winter_sports.is another example of a feature which should
be tagged as 'leisure'.
